
Two more people have died of coronavirus in Chattogram. With the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in June, the total number of deaths in the district has now reached six
Confirming the matter on Monday (June 23), Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said the two individuals had been undergoing treatment at Apollo Imperial Hospital in the city. They died on Saturday evening.
According to the Civil Surgeon, both patients had pneumonia and had been bedridden for a long time, suffering from bedsores.
The deceased were Kazi Abdul Awal, 80, a resident of Noakhali, and Rabeya Khatun, 95, from the Firingi Bazar area of Chattogram.
In the past three days alone, five people have died of coronavirus in the district.
According to the report published by the Civil Surgeon’s Office on Monday, four new cases were detected in the last 24 hours after testing 120 samples. Among them, three are residents of Chattogram city.
So far in June, a total of 78 people have tested positive for the virus in the district. Of them, 69 are city residents, and the remaining nine are from various upazilas.
Due to the recent rise in infections, Chattogram General Hospital has once again been designated for Covid-19 treatment.
