Students Enthusiastic at Freelancing Seminar in Govt Bangla College

Dhaka, May 16, 2025 — A wave of festivity and enthusiasm swept across the campus of Government Bangla College as hundreds of students participated in a dynamic seminar on freelancing, held on Thursday.
The seminar, titled “Freelancing: A Gateway to National & International Job Market,” was organized by European IT Solutions Institute, a concern of Ireland-based IT Firm EUITSols. The event aimed to enlighten students about the vast opportunities and practical challenges in the freelancing sector. It was moderated by Mofsena Mitu of European IT.
In his keynote speech, Mamunur Rashid, Head of European IT Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of determination and perseverance in achieving career success.
“Whatever you decide regarding your career, stick to your decision despite all barriers. You may be bent, but never broken,” he told the students.
He also shared his personal journey of building European IT, highlighting his collaboration with Sandeep Chowdhury, the firm's Co-founder and Chairman, in Ireland.
Md. Azizul Islam, Senior Graphic Designer at European IT, presented a comprehensive PowerPoint demonstration outlining the step-by-step process of starting and sustaining a freelancing career. He explained how students from various academic backgrounds — including Bengali, English, Accounting, Management, Geography, and Sociology — can thrive in the freelancing ecosystem.
Delivering the welcome address, M Firoz Al Mamun, Head of Business Development (Bangladesh), noted that traditional desk jobs are gradually diminishing while freelancing is gaining momentum.
“Freelancing gained significant traction during the Covid-19 pandemic and continues to grow. It’s high time students and youth in Bangladesh harness this global trend,” he said.
AI Kafi Sohag, Software Engineer at European IT, underscored the necessity of acquiring knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to keep pace with international technological advancements.
Several faculty members of Government Bangla College attended the event, including Prof Dr Mohammad Golam Rabbabi, Chairman of the Department of Accounting; Prof Sahanara Akhter of the Department of Political Science; and Associate Professor Md Shah Alam of the Department of Geography.
In their remarks, Prof Rabbabi and Prof Sahanara urged students to implement the lessons from the seminar in their personal development and professional pursuits.
