New Vice-Chancellors Appointed at Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Jagannath and Other Universities; UGC Chairman Named
The government has announced new appointments for vice-chancellors at several public universities, including Dhaka University, University of Rajshahi, University of Chittagong, Jagannath University, and three other institutions, along with the naming of a new chairman for the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The announcement was made on Monday during a press briefing at the Ministry of Education by Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon.
Dhaka University: Professor A B M Obaidul Islam, currently Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University and a professor in the Physics Department of Dhaka University, has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University.
The announcement was made on Monday during a press briefing at the Ministry of Education by Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon.
According to the minister, Md Faridul Islam has been selected as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Rajshahi. At Jagannath University, Rais Uddin, chairman of the Islamic Studies Department and president of the university’s teachers’ association, will take over as vice-chancellor.
The government has also nominated Siddiqur Rahman Khan as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University. Meanwhile, Md Nurul Islam, currently serving as Pro-Vice-Chancellor of National University, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Central University.
In addition, Md Masud will lead Khulna University of Engineering and Technology as its new vice-chancellor, while Md Al Forkan has been chosen as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chittagong.
The minister said official government notifications regarding these appointments will be issued shortly.
The latest decisions come shortly after the government announced new leadership at University of Dhaka and the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, signaling a broader administrative change across Bangladesh’s higher education institutions.
