
In a vibrant celebration of youth and tradition, a day-long Book Fair and Pitha Festival was held at Magura Government Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
The event, organized as part of the college's cultural festivities, took place on Monday in the administrative building courtyard, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and visitors alike.
Students from various departments showcased an array of traditional winter pithas, beautifully arranged in stalls, alongside a diverse collection of books.
The event transformed the college premises into a lively hub of flavors and literature. Unique and creatively named pithas such as Hriday Horan Pitha, Pushpa Pitha, Heart Attack Pitha, Antore Jwala Pitha, Nawabi Semai, Bahari Golap Pitha, Bou Pitha, Puli Pitha, and Chandra Puli captivated visitors.
For many students, this was their first opportunity to present their handmade pithas in a public event, bringing them immense joy.
Several departments, including Accounting, History, Botany, Soil Science, Zoology, Mathematics, and Bangla, actively participated, making the festival a dynamic and engaging experience.
According to the organizers, the aim was to reconnect the younger generation with their cultural roots through traditional delicacies and literature.
Festival Implementation Committee Convener, Associate Professor Mihir Kanti Pramanik, stated that such events inspire the younger generation to preserve and celebrate cultural heritage.
Professor Rezvi Zaman, Principal of Magura Government Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy College, emphasized that the institution is committed to fostering the appreciation of history and tradition.
He expressed hope that annual events like this would strengthen the bond between students and Bangladesh’s rich heritage of pithas and literature.
