US President Donald Trump announced that the US and Iran will have direct talks on April 12 to discuss a possible nuclear deal.
Iran's foreign minister confirmed the meeting but said it would be "indirect" and a test of both sides.
Trump, who previously pulled the US out of a nuclear deal with Iran, warned that if the talks fail, it could be "a very bad day" for Iran. The meeting will take place in Oman, and Trump emphasized that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons.
Last month, the US president raised the prospect of military action against Iran after its supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei publicly rejected the offer of direct talks.
