Powerful Quake Rattles Northern Japan
A powerful magnitude-7.5 earthquake shook northern Japan on Monday night, leaving at least 30 people injured and prompting widespread evacuations.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the quake struck at 23:15 local time (14:15 GMT) at a depth of 50km (31 miles), roughly 80km off the coast of Aomori. Although tsunami alerts were issued, they were later lifted after coastal areas recorded waves of about 70cm (27 inches).
The tremor caused power outages in thousands of homes and led to the suspension of several train services. Officials have cautioned that more strong aftershocks could follow, advising residents to remain vigilant throughout the week, local media reported.

কম্পনের ফলে হাজারো বাড়িতে বিদ্যুৎ বিচ্ছিন্ন হয় এবং কিছু ট্রেন পরিষেবা বন্ধ হয়ে যায়। কর্তৃপক্ষ জানিয়েছে, আগামী কয়েক দিনে আরও বড় আফটারশক হতে পারে, তাই অন্তত এক সপ্তাহ সতর্ক থাকার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হয়েছে।
