Azad Elected President, Hamidur Gen Secy of Roads and Highways Engineers’ Association

The Roads and Highways Engineers’ Association has elected its new central executive committee for the 2025-2027 term.
A.K.M. Azad Rahman, Additional Chief Engineer of Roads and Highways Dhaka Zone, has been elected as President, while A.K.M. Hamidur Rahman, Executive Engineer, has been chosen as General Secretary.
The newly elected president confirmed the results of the election as the election took place on Saturday (February 8, 2025), at Sadar Bhaban, Tejgaon, Dhaka.
In the newly formed committee, Md. Enamul Haque and Md. Mohibul Haque have been elected as Vice Presidents. Joy Prakash Chowdhury and Ashiq Kadir will serve as Joint Secretaries.
Md. Golam Rabbani has been elected as Treasurer, while Md. Arafat Saklayen will take on the role of Organizing Secretary. Md. Emanuel Islam Imon has been chosen as Sports & Cultural Secretary, and Md. Mizbah-ul-Alam will serve as Media & Publicity Secretary. The position of Publication Secretary has been given to Md. Ainun Nishat Khan, and Md. Saddam Hossain has been elected as Office Secretary.
Additionally, 11 members have been elected to the committee, including Khan Md. Kamrul Ahsan, Md. Moniruzzaman, Mohammad Abdul Halim, Dr. Md. Waliur Rahman, Md. Nurun Nabi Torofdar, Farhana Husna, Khondaker Golam Mostafa, Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Dr. Md. Mohsin Howlader, and Md. Shahe Arefin. In total, a 23-member executive committee has been formed.
Before the elections, the 33rd Annual General Meeting of the association was held.
President of the Mymensingh Divisional Press Club, F.M.A. Salam, and General Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam extended their congratulations to A.K.M. Azad Rahman and the newly elected executive members.
In a statement, they expressed optimism that under the leadership of the new committee, Bangladesh’s road and highway network will see significant modernization and development.
They also wished the elected officials good health and success in their tenure.
