Anti-Drug Oath Administered in Hathazari by State Minister Mir Helal
HATHAZARI (CHATTOGRAM): A high-level discussion titled “Action Plan and Discussion on Building a Drug-Free Society” was convened by the Upazila Administration on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, aimed at spearheading a social movement against narcotics.
Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Member of Parliament and the State Minister for the Ministry of Land and the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, graced the event as the chief guest.
During the meeting, presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muhammad Abdullah Al Mumin, Minister Mir Helal underscored the necessity of a coordinated effort between administrative bodies, public representatives, and citizens to achieve a "zero-tolerance" environment for drugs in Hathazari.
Engaging directly with students, he listened to their perspectives before administering a formal anti-drug oath to the entire assembly.
Distinguished attendees included Superintendent of Police Saifur Rahman, PPM; Kazi Md. Tarek Aziz, Company Commander of RAB-7 CPC-2; and Rameshwar Das, Assistant Director of the Department of Narcotics Control, Chattogram.
The event also saw participation from senior political leaders, including Central BNP Member Uday Kusum Barua, Hathazari Upazila BNP Convener Nur Mohammad, and Paurashava BNP Convener Zakir Hossain.
In a gesture of social support, Minister Mir Helal distributed wheelchairs, sewing machines, and cash assistance to helpless and destitute local residents.
He also awarded prizes to winners of an essay competition held for students of various secondary schools and madrasas. The program concluded with a collective pledge to maintain Hathazari as a safe and drug-free community.
