Engineering Innovation and Nation-Building: IEB’s 78th Anniversary Celebrated in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR, Bangladesh — The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) marked its 78th founding anniversary, celebrated nationwide as "Engineers Day," with a series of grand events organized by the IEB Dinajpur Center on Thursday.
The day served as a platform for professionals to reaffirm their dedication to the creative and innovative development of the country.
The festivities commenced at 10:00 AM at the Dinajpur Roads and Highways Department Road Circle Office. The national flag and the IEB flag were hoisted followed by a formal oath-taking ceremony, where participating engineers pledged their technical expertise to the progress of the nation.
Highlights of the Celebration
Progress Rally: At 10:20 AM, a colorful rally marched through the city streets. Participants carried banners advocating for technological advancement and professional dedication as the pillars of a modern Bangladesh.
Commemorative Ceremony: Following the rally, a ceremonial cake was cut at the Road Circle Conference Room, fostering an atmosphere of professional camaraderie.
Strategic Discussion: A seminar focused on the role of the engineering community in sustainable development was held at 11:00 AM.
Leadership Insights
The event was graced by Md. Mahbubul Alam Khan, Chairman of the IEB Dinajpur Center and Superintending Engineer of the Dinajpur Road Circle, who served as the chief guest. In his keynote address, he emphasized that building a technology-driven, developed nation requires engineers who are not only highly skilled but also driven by humanitarian values.
Md. Masudur Rahman, Honorary Secretary of the IEB Dinajpur Center and Executive Engineer of LGED Dinajpur, delivered the welcome address. He highlighted the rich legacy of the IEB and expressed his confidence in the ability of young engineers to lead future infrastructure and technological revolutions.
The discussion featured contributions from several senior professionals, including Vice Chairman Engineer Abu Ahmed Zafrullah and engineers from various departments such as LGED and HSTU. The program was coordinated by Assistant Engineer Md. Fawzul Kabir, Assistant Professor Mohammad Ferdous Wahid, and Engineer Mohammad Saikat Ali.
The 78th anniversary celebration in Dinajpur concluded as more than just a ceremonial milestone; it acted as a catalyst for engineers to renew their commitment to knowledge, professional responsibility, and the vision of a sustainable, modern Bangladesh.
