Tithi Rejects ‘Girlfriend’ Claims in Alvi Wife Death Case
Actress Iffat Ara Tithi has returned to Bangladesh following the tragic death of Ikra, wife of actor Zaheer Alvi. Tithi, who has been named as one of the accused in a case filed over allegations of abetment to suicide, spoke to local media after her arrival and addressed the controversy surrounding her relationship with Alvi.
Speaking about the widespread claims that Alvi did not return immediately after his wife’s death and was “vacationing in Nepal with his girlfriend,” Tithi dismissed the allegation as false. She clarified that she, along with the entire production team, returned to the country on March 2. According to her statement, they had tried to secure flight tickets on the day Ikra died but were unable to find seats. Tickets were arranged the following day, and the team flew back together.
Rumors about a romantic relationship between Tithi and Zaheer Alvi had been circulating in the entertainment industry for some time. Following Ikra’s death, some of her close friends alleged that an extramarital affair between Alvi and Tithi had left Ikra mentally distressed, ultimately leading to her suicide.
However, Tithi strongly denied any romantic involvement. She described Alvi as her “best friend” in the industry, stating that they have worked together for several years. She explained that long-term professional collaboration can naturally develop into close friendship, adding that she has consistently described Alvi as her closest colleague in previous interviews as well.
Ikra’s body was recovered on February 28 from a residence in Mirpur DOHS. She was later taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Following the incident, Ikra’s father filed a case at Pallabi Police Station in the capital, accusing Zaheer Alvi, his mother, and Iffat Ara Tithi of abetment to suicide.
The case has sparked widespread debate across social media and the entertainment industry, as investigations continue. Authorities have yet to provide further details regarding the progress of the case.
