Rajshahi: The teenage son of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Abdus Rahman died from massive haemorrhage, according to forensic doctors who completed the autopsy this morning.
A two-member team from Rajshahi Medical College’s Forensic Medicine Department—headed by Associate Professor Kofil Uddin and assisted by Lecturer Sharmin Sobhan Kaberi—conducted the postmortem around 9:45 a.m. on Friday. After the examination, they briefed journalists on their initial findings.
The doctors said 16-year-old Tausif Rahman sustained deep injuries from a sharp, pointed weapon, which severed three major blood vessels in his right thigh, right leg, and left arm.
“These injuries caused profuse external and internal bleeding, which we believe led to his death,” said Dr. Kofil Uddin. The autopsy took around 30 minutes.
Judge Abdus Rahman waited outside the morgue during the procedure and spoke with the forensic team afterward.
Police had earlier mentioned bruising marks on Tausif’s neck and suspected suffocation.
Responding to this, the forensic examiner said the marks could result from attempted smothering with a soft cloth, but confirmed it was not the primary cause of death.
He added that both the stabbing and an attempt to suffocate appeared to have occurred during the same assault.
Tausif, a ninth-grade student, was killed on Thursday afternoon at their rented home in the Dabtala area of Rajshahi city. The attacker, 35-year-old Limon Mia—known to the family—also injured Tausif’s mother, Tasmin Nahar, who remains hospitalized. Limon was wounded during the scuffle and is currently under police guard in hospital. As of 11 a.m. Friday, no case had been filed regarding the incident.
Tausif’s body is being taken to the family’s ancestral home in Jamalpur for burial, with Quantum Foundation managing the preparations and transportation.
