Rajshahi (Nov 13,2025): — A shocking incident occurred in Rajshahi when a young man allegedly killed the son of a local judge inside their home. Reports indicate that the suspect had previously threatened the judge’s family.
On November 6, Tasmin Nahar, wife of Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahman, filed a general diary (GD) at Jalalabad Police Station in Sylhet, stating that the suspect, Limon Mia, had threatened to harm her family.
Around 2:30 p.m. today, Limon Mia entered the judge’s rented apartment in the Dabtala area of Rajshahi city and stabbed their son, Tawsif Rahman (Sumon), to death. Tasmin Nahar (44) was also injured during the attack and admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital along with the suspect, who was detained by police.
According to the GD, Tasmin Nahar, a resident of Khadra Model Town, Jalalabad, Sylhet, knew Limon Mia (35) through the Quantum Foundation. Limon, facing financial difficulties, often asked her for money. When she refused, he allegedly began harassing her and threatening her family over the phone.
On November 3, around 10:20 a.m., Limon reportedly contacted Tasmin’s daughter via Facebook Messenger and issued further threats against the family. Concerned for their safety, Tasmin filed the GD.
Shah Mohammad Mubashwir, Officer-in-Charge of Jalalabad Police Station, told reporters that the suspect had been harassing Tasmin Nahar for some time, demanding money through threats and intimidation.
“When Madam visited her daughter at Shahjalal University in Sylhet, the suspect followed her and created a disturbance. University students eventually handed him over to the police,” he added.
Police noted that the suspect had entered the building claiming to be the judge’s brother and signed the visitor log.
Messer Ali, the building caretaker, said he had never seen the man before but allowed him entry after recording his name and phone number. About 30 minutes later, the housemaid alerted him that the judge’s son and wife had been attacked. Other residents rushed in and found all three injured, after which they were taken to the hospital.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian visited the scene around 5 p.m. and later briefed reporters.
He said a driving license was recovered from the attacker, suggesting he may have been a driver, and authorities are investigating the motive and any prior dispute that may have led to the attack.
