Gauri Renovates Ancestral Home Into Luxury Villa
Gauri Khan, wife of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is widely recognized not only as a celebrity spouse but also as a leading interior designer. She has recently restored a cherished ancestral property and transformed it into an elegant luxury retreat open to guests.
Located in the scenic hill town of Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh, the nearly century-old home has been reimagined into a premium holiday villa named The Chestnut Grove. The six-bedroom property is now available for bookings.
Guests who wish to reserve the entire villa for one night can expect to pay approximately ₹1,20,000. Individual room rates vary by season, typically ranging between ₹15,000 and ₹25,000 per night.
The property was originally purchased in 1933 by Gauri Khan’s great-grandfather, Suraj Bhan Tiwari. Today, it is overseen by her uncle, Tejinder Tiwari. Spread across around 8,000 square feet, the villa features spacious suite-style bedrooms, expansive common areas, and lush green surroundings that enhance its peaceful ambiance.
For Gauri, this project carries deep personal meaning. Beyond being a design venture, the home holds cherished childhood memories of family vacations.
The interiors blend heritage charm with contemporary comfort. A glass-enclosed living area welcomes natural light, while a large fireplace adds warmth to the space. The bedrooms include a private garden room, a king suite, and an attic suite. Thoughtful use of wood and stone, cozy furnishings, and a skylit dining area together create an inviting and relaxing atmosphere.
