Trump Threatens to Halt US Aid to South Africa Over Land Reform Law

Trump Threatens to Halt US Aid to South Africa Over Land Reform Law

US President Donald Trump has warned of cutting all future aid to South Africa following the implementation of a controversial land reform law.

The law, signed by President Cyril Ramaphosa last month, allows for the confiscation of land without compensation in certain cases.

The move comes as part of a broader debate over land ownership in South Africa, where a significant portion of farmland is still owned by white individuals, despite the end of apartheid more than 30 years ago. Calls for land redistribution have intensified, aiming to address historical racial inequalities and injustices in the country.
