Strict Surveillance on Facebook Use by Primary School Teachers

The authorities have intensified strict surveillance on the Facebook activities of teachers and staff at government primary schools.
Teachers and employees have been instructed to follow the "Guidelines for the use of social media in government institutions.
This directive was issued through a notification signed by Taposh Kumar Odhikari, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Primary Education and Head of the Committee on Social Media Information Collection, Preservation, and Presentation, on Wednesday (June 18).
According to the notification, a circular has been issued instructing adherence to the 2019 (revised version) guidelines published by the Cabinet Division. These guidelines outline the dos and don’ts for employees of government institutions and ensure necessary security and confidentiality in the use of social media.
To implement these measures, monitoring teams have been formed as per the first referenced order: a seven-member team at the divisional level, a six-member team at the district level, and a six-member team at the upazila/police station level. These teams are tasked with monitoring social media activities and taking necessary actions where applicable.
