Protest Rally Announced by Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Gazipur

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has announced a protest rally at Rajbari Field in Gazipur Sadar Upazila at 1:30 PM on Saturday. Central leaders of the organization are expected to be present.
The announcement was made through a Facebook post by the group at around 4 AM on Saturday. The post stated that the protest was being organized in response to an attack on their members in Gazipur.
The incident in question took place on Friday night when a group of individuals attempted to enter the residence of former Liberation War Affairs Minister A.K.M. Mozammel Haque in Dhirashram Dakshinkhan, Gazipur. Local residents intervened, leading to an altercation in which at least 15 people were injured.
Some of them were later taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, and critically injured individuals were transferred to Dhaka for further treatment.
Eyewitnesses and police sources reported that the situation escalated when an announcement was made over a mosque loudspeaker, alerting locals about a possible intrusion at the former minister’s residence. In response, residents gathered and confronted the group.
Following the incident, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement staged a protest march outside Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in the early hours of Saturday.
Gazipur unit leader Md. Abdullah claimed that their members were trying to prevent looting when they were attacked. "Our students reached the scene upon hearing reports of looting. However, before they could assess the situation, they were surrounded and assaulted," he said.
Meanwhile, National Citizens' Committee leader Sarjis Alam also reacted to the developments on social media. In a Facebook post at 2:13 AM on Saturday, he wrote, "Today marks the last day for Awami miscreants in Gazipur. We are coming..."
Law enforcement officials have yet to confirm any arrests related to the incident. The situation in the area remains under surveillance.
