Political Dialogue Begins Interim Govt's 2nd Phase: CA Prof Yunus

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has stated that the first phase of the interim government's six-month tenure has concluded, and with the commencement of political dialogue today, the second phase has begun.
He made this remark during a meeting between the National Consensus Commission and political parties on Saturday. The discussion, held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, began shortly after 3 PM and included around 100 leaders from 26 parties and alliances.
During a break for Asr prayers, the Chief Adviser's Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, briefed journalists about Yunus' statement. He described the day as historic, marking the start of a significant political dialogue.
The press secretary noted that the meeting served as a preparatory discussion for the broader consensus-building process.
Professor Yunus emphasized that the initiative was part of building a "new Bangladesh," supported by both the international community and the people of the country.
"Today marks the beginning of a noble endeavor. Through this second phase, we will determine the kind of Bangladesh we envision," he said.
Additionally, Yunus commented on a recent United Nations report, stating that it has revealed the brutal repression carried out by the Awami League government and the administration against student protesters.
"The UN report has made it clear to the world the extent of the atrocities committed under Hasina's rule," he asserted.
He further noted that Bangladesh has the backing of the international community and the United Nations in its pursuit of justice and reforms.
