New Metro Rail Schedule for Ramadan

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has announced a new metro rail schedule for the holy month of Ramadan, allowing passengers to carry 250ml of water per person on platforms and trains for iftar.

This is a temporary relaxation of the usual restrictions, intended to facilitate passengers during iftar time.

According to a DMTCL notice issued on February 27, the first train from Uttara North Station will depart at 7:10 AM, with the last train leaving at 9:00 PM. From Motijheel, the first train will leave at 7:30 AM, and the last one will depart at 9:40 PM.

During peak hours, which have been extended for Ramadan, trains will run every 8 minutes. From Uttara, this schedule will be in effect from 7:31 AM to 4:50 PM, while from Motijheel, it will be from 8:01 AM to 5:30 PM. During non-peak hours, trains will run every 10 minutes.

This schedule aims to accommodate increased passenger demand during Ramadan while ensuring smooth and efficient metro rail services.

The DMTCL notice also emphasized that passengers must ensure water does not spill and must dispose of used bottles in designated bins at platforms, concourses, and entry or exit gates. However, consuming any other food on platforms, concourses, or inside the trains remains strictly prohibited.

The increased frequency of trains during peak hours may continue even after Ramadan, according to DMTCL sources. Meanwhile, the existing schedule for Fridays, Saturdays, and other public holidays will remain unchanged.
