Name of the Seven Colleges' University To Be Dhaka Central University

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has finalized the name for the new university that will consist of the seven government colleges in Dhaka.
The name of the university will be "Dhaka Central University" (DCU).
The decision was made during a meeting held on Sunday (March 16) at the UGC building in Agargaon, Dhaka, with a 32-member student delegation in attendance.
In February 2017, seven government colleges in Dhaka were affiliated with Dhaka University with the aim of improving the quality of education and developing a more modern educational system. The seven colleges are: Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Begum Badrunnessa Government Women’s College, Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Mirpur Bangla College, and Government Titumir College.
However, due to various allegations of mismanagement and lack of foresight by Dhaka University authorities, students from these colleges began a prolonged movement starting in October of the previous year.
As a result, the affiliation with Dhaka University was cancelled, and in December, the government formed a special committee to address the issue. This committee spent over three months conducting feasibility studies, visiting campuses, drafting a plan for dignified separation, and holding meetings with faculty and students.
Finally, on February 18, the UGC called for suggestions regarding the name of the proposed university from all stakeholders involved.
