Nahid Islam, the Convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has alleged that efforts are underway to orchestrate another political upheaval similar to the 1/11 scenario in Bangladesh.
He made this claim in a post from his verified Facebook account on Friday (May 23) night.
In his post, Nahid Islam stated that the objective of his party is to liberate Bangladesh's politics from all forms of domination and ensure the country is run independently and sovereignly.
He criticized repeated efforts to divide the nation and undermine national unity, claiming these actions have weakened the country over time.
He alleged that following the banning of the Awami League, a new strategy is being designed from Delhi to destabilize Bangladesh and sow division.
“A new blueprint is being drafted to disrupt democratic transition and execute another 1/11-style political arrangement,” he wrote.
Nahid called upon patriotic, pro-Bangladesh, and religiously devout students and citizens to remain united in defense of sovereignty, reform, and the anticipated July uprising.
He also urged patriotic army officers and soldiers to be prepared to protect Bangladesh’s sovereignty.
Referring to Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Nahid emphasized that he must fulfill his promises to the people regarding reform, justice, and voting rights.
He said Yunus should remain in his position to resolve all political issues. The July declaration must be issued within the scheduled time, and elections must take place within the declared timeframe.
He also demanded that visible steps be taken to prosecute those responsible for the "July genocide" before the elections.
A roadmap for justice must be announced, and elections for both the constituent assembly and legislature must be held simultaneously to pave the way for a new constitution, he added.
