Motorcycle Owner Detained in Attack on Osman Hadi- ওসমান হাদির ওপর হামলায় ব্যবহৃত মোটরসাইকেলের মালিক আটক
Bangladesh: Police have detained a man after tracing the registration number of the motorcycle used in the attack on Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, a potential independent candidate in the 13th national parliamentary election and convenor of the Inqilab Manch.
The detainee, identified as Abdul Hannan, is the registered owner of the motorcycle. He was arrested on Saturday from the Mohammadpur area of the capital, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
DMP Deputy Commissioner for Media and Public Relations Talebur Rahman shared the information with journalists on Sunday. Earlier in the day, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said it had identified the motorcycle used in the attack and detained its owner before handing him over to police.
Meanwhile, Osman Hadi’s physical condition remains unchanged. If his health improves, arrangements may be made to take him abroad for advanced medical treatment. Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Manch, said on Sunday morning that he is staying beside Osman Hadi at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where the victim is currently receiving treatment.
Speaking at the DMP Media Centre, Talebur Rahman said investigators are examining whether Abdul Hannan had any direct involvement in the attempted killing. He added that police are making maximum efforts to arrest those responsible for shooting Osman Hadi and that the shooter has already been identified.
Responding to a question, the DMP official said there is no information so far suggesting that the attackers have fled the country. He noted that the motive behind the attempted killing would emerge through further investigation.
Talebur Rahman also said security measures for candidates actively campaigning in the election are being treated with importance. To maintain law and order in the city, police have increased checkpoints and patrol operations.
Earlier, Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Harun Or Rashid told journalists that RAB-2 detained Abdul Hannan on suspicion of involvement in the attempted killing of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi and later handed him over to police for further legal action.

ত্রয়োদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে সম্ভাব্য স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী ও ইনকিলাব মঞ্চের আহ্বায়ক শরিফ ওসমান বিন হাদির ওপর হামলায় ব্যবহৃত মোটরসাইকেলের রেজিস্ট্রেশন নম্বর অনুসরণ করে একজনকে আটক করেছে পুলিশ।
আটক ব্যক্তির নাম আবদুল হান্নান। তিনি মোটরসাইকেলটির নিবন্ধিত মালিক। শনিবার রাজধানীর মোহাম্মদপুর এলাকা থেকে তাঁকে আটক করা হয় বলে জানিয়েছে ঢাকা মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশ (ডিএমপি)।
রোববার ডিএমপির গণমাধ্যম ও জনসংযোগ বিভাগের উপকমিশনার তালেবুর রহমান সাংবাদিকদের এ তথ্য জানান। এর আগে র্যাব জানায়, হামলায় ব্যবহৃত মোটরসাইকেলটি শনাক্ত করা হয়েছে এবং মালিক হিসেবে আবদুল হান্নানকে আটক করে পরে পুলিশের কাছে হস্তান্তর করা হয়েছে।
এদিকে আহত ওসমান হাদির শারীরিক অবস্থার তেমন কোনো পরিবর্তন হয়নি। পরিস্থিতির উন্নতি হলে উন্নত চিকিৎসার জন্য তাঁকে বিদেশে নেওয়ার বিষয়টি বিবেচনা করা হতে পারে। ইনকিলাব মঞ্চের সদস্যসচিব আবদুল্লাহ আল জাবের জানান, ঢাকার এভারকেয়ার হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন ওসমান হাদির পাশে তিনি অবস্থান করছেন।
ডিএমপির মিডিয়া সেন্টারে উপকমিশনার তালেবুর রহমান বলেন, হত্যাচেষ্টার ঘটনায় আবদুল হান্নানের কোনো প্রত্যক্ষ সম্পৃক্ততা রয়েছে কি না, তা তদন্ত করে দেখা হচ্ছে। তিনি জানান, ওসমান হাদিকে গুলি করা ব্যক্তিদের গ্রেপ্তারে পুলিশ সর্বোচ্চ চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে এবং ইতোমধ্যে শুটারকে শনাক্ত করা হয়েছে।
এক প্রশ্নের জবাবে তিনি বলেন, হামলাকারীরা দেশ ছেড়ে পালিয়ে গেছে—এমন কোনো তথ্য এখনো পাওয়া যায়নি। হামলার পেছনের উদ্দেশ্য তদন্তের মাধ্যমে স্পষ্ট হবে।
নির্বাচনে অংশ নেওয়া প্রার্থীদের নিরাপত্তা জোরদারের বিষয়ে গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হচ্ছে বলেও জানান ডিএমপির এই কর্মকর্তা। নগরীর আইনশৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতি স্বাভাবিক রাখতে চেকপোস্ট ও টহল কার্যক্রম বাড়ানো হয়েছে।
এদিকে পুলিশের মতিঝিল বিভাগের উপকমিশনার হারুন অর রশীদ জানান, শরিফ ওসমান বিন হাদিকে হত্যাচেষ্টার ঘটনায় সন্দেহভাজন হিসেবে র্যাব-২ আবদুল হান্নানকে আটক করে এবং পরে তাঁকে পুলিশের কাছে হস্তান্তর করে।
