The government has officially issued the Referendum Ordinance, 2025, following its approval at a meeting of the Advisory Council.
The ordinance was published in a gazette on Tuesday night (25 November) by the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Ministry of Law.
Earlier in the day, the draft of the ordinance received approval during a session of the Advisory Council held at the office of the Chief Adviser.
The nationwide referendum is scheduled to be held on the same day as the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, expected in early February.
Through this referendum, the government aims to seek public opinion regarding the implementation of the July Charter.
