DMP Bans Gatherings Near Secretariat, Jamuna

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all forms of public gatherings, including rallies, processions, and demonstrations, in and around the Bangladesh Secretariat and the official residence of the Chief Adviser, Jamuna.
The order will be effective from Monday (June 9, 2025) until further notice.
The restriction, aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring the Chief Adviser’s security, was announced through a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on June 4 and officially released on Sunday (June 8).
According to the notice, the ban will apply to the areas surrounding the Secretariat and the Jamuna residence, including key intersections such as Hotel InterContinental crossing, Kakrail Mosque junction, Officers' Club corner, and Minto Road.
The directive has been issued under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1976 (Ordinance No. III of 1976), which empowers the DMP to restrict public gatherings in the interest of public safety and order.
