Dense Fog Disrupts Flights at Dhaka Airport; Three Diverted to Kolkata

A thick fog caused major disruptions at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday night, with three flights diverted to Kolkata and 16 delayed.
The fog, which began around midnight, caused poor visibility, preventing flights from landing.
Two Kuwait Airways flights and one Salam Air flight, coming from Kuwait City and Muscat, were diverted to Kolkata as they could not land in Dhaka. They returned to Dhaka by Monday morning after conditions improved.
Flights from Emirates, Gulf Air, US-Bangla, and Druk Air also faced delays on routes to Dubai, Muscat, Rome, Bahrain, Doha, Sharjah, Singapore, and Paro, among others.
By 10:00 AM Monday, operations returned to normal at the airport. The incident highlights the challenges posed by weather disruptions during the winter months.
