Bricks Found on Kalshi Flyover in Dhaka Raise Safety Concerns

Dhaka, April 22 – Commuters have expressed concern over the presence of bricks found accumulated at a couple of points on the Kalshi flyover, posing potential risks to moving vehicles and pedestrians on the road beneath.
A few days ago, bricks were reportedly seen in several spots along the flyover. Although the number has since decreased, at least two locations still show signs of brick accumulation.
The flyover, which connects the busy routes between ECB Chattar, Bhashantek, and Mirpur 10 and 12, remains active with both light and heavy vehicular traffic throughout the day.
Given that the flyover is located near a high school, many schoolchildren, in addition to adults, use the area regularly. Concerned residents say the situation could pose a serious hazard if the bricks were to fall or be misused in any way.
Ridoy Sheikh, a commuter, speculated that “some miscreants might have placed the bricks with ill intentions, possibly to obstruct vehicles during nighttime hours.” While no untoward incidents have been reported yet, locals believe preventive measures are necessary.
Residents and road users have urged the authorities to increase routine monitoring and take necessary steps to ensure safety on and around the flyover, emphasizing the importance of keeping the area secure for public movement.
