DHAKA – In a highly anticipated move ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has finalized the date for the formal unveiling of its election manifesto.
The party is scheduled to present its long-term development roadmap and public welfare-centric pledges to the nation this Friday ( February 6, 2026).
Professor Dr. Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel, the Convener of the BNP Media Cell, confirmed the details on Wednesday evening, stating that the document will outline a transformative path for the country.
A People-Centric Document
At a special briefing in the capital, Mahdi Amin, the spokesperson for the BNP Central Election Steering Committee and political advisor to the party chairman, emphasized that the manifesto is the culmination of extensive grassroots research.
Amin highlighted that the drafting process was uniquely inclusive:
Public Participation: The party spent months engaging with diverse socio-economic groups to ensure their grievances and aspirations were captured.
Theoretical Excellence: The manifesto balances academic policy-making with practical, real-world solutions.
Political Evolution: Leadership believes this document will serve as a "new social contract" between the party and the citizens.
Core Pillars: State Reforms and "The 31-Point Plan"
The manifesto is built upon the structural foundations of the BNP’s previously announced '31-point' and '27-point' state reform outlines. These points were designed to "repair the state" and ensure that no future government can revert to authoritarianism.
Key pillars of the proposed reforms include:
Balance of Power: Reforming the executive powers of the President and Prime Minister to ensure checks and balances.
Term Limits: A proposal to restrict any individual from serving as Prime Minister for more than two consecutive terms.
Bicameral Legislature: The introduction of an "Upper House" of Parliament comprising experts, academics, and eminent citizens.
Judicial Independence: Complete separation and empowerment of the judiciary to ensure the rule of law.
Strategic Focus for a "New Bangladesh"
With the election slated for February 12, the BNP’s manifesto places heavy emphasis on immediate socio-economic relief and long-term stability.
| Sector | Primary Objectives |
|---|---|
| Youth & Jobs | Eradicating the "curse of unemployment" through tech-based training and creating an environment for new entrepreneurs. |
| Agriculture | Guaranteeing fair crop prices for farmers and providing subsidies to protect the rural economy. |
| Good Governance | Establishing a "National Reconciliation Commission" to move past the politics of vengeance and fostering a "Rainbow Nation." |
| Economy | Curbing inflation, investigating money laundering, and publishing a "white paper" on past financial irregularities. |
A Call for Fair Polls
The announcement comes as the BNP ramps up its campaign activities. Spokesperson Mahdi Amin reiterated the party's demand for a level playing field and urged the Election Commission to remain vigilant against any irregularities. He expressed confidence that if the will of the people is respected, the BNP's manifesto will provide the blueprint for a prosperous and democratic future.
