The Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia has issued a warning to Bangladeshi nationals against organizing or participating in election-related activities without official permission.
The caution comes after several Bangladeshis were detained by Saudi authorities for such actions.
In a press release issued on Wednesday night (17 December), the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh urged citizens to comply strictly with local laws.
The statement noted that in recent days, meetings and campaign activities related to Bangladesh’s upcoming 13th parliamentary election were held in different parts of Saudi Arabia without authorization. These activities reportedly took place in rented halls, hotels, restaurants, and private residences under the banners of various unapproved organizations. Additionally, allegations were made regarding the spread of misleading and unlawful content on social media, prompting Saudi authorities to take action against those involved.

সৌদি আরবে অনুমতি ছাড়া নির্বাচনি কার্যক্রমে জড়িত না হতে বাংলাদেশি নাগরিকদের সতর্ক করেছে বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাস। এ ধরনের কর্মকাণ্ডে জড়িত থাকার অভিযোগে সৌদি কর্তৃপক্ষ ইতোমধ্যে কয়েকজন বাংলাদেশিকে আটক করেছে।
বুধবার (১৭ ডিসেম্বর) রাতে রিয়াদের বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাস থেকে প্রকাশিত এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদের স্থানীয় আইন ও বিধি-বিধান মেনে চলার আহ্বান জানানো হয়।
বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে উল্লেখ করা হয়, সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে সৌদি আরবের বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলে কোনো ধরনের অনুমোদন ছাড়াই হলরুম, হোটেল-রেস্তোরাঁ এবং ব্যক্তিগত বাসাবাড়িতে বাংলাদেশের আসন্ন ত্রয়োদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনকে কেন্দ্র করে সভা-সমাবেশ, দলগত প্রচার-প্রচারণা এবং সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমে বিভ্রান্তিকর ও আইনবিরোধী তথ্য ছড়ানোর ঘটনা ঘটেছে।
