2 Cabin Crew Removed from Khaleda Zia’s Flight Over 'Security Concerns'
Two designated cabin crew members were removed at midnight from the Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight scheduled to carry BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia from London to Dhaka on Monday, May 5.
The two removed crew members are Al Kubrun Nahar Kosmic and Md Kamrul Islam Bipan.
According to aviation intelligence sources, the decision was made over security concerns and alleged political affiliations.
The Biman BG-202 flight is set to depart from London’s Heathrow Airport on Sunday evening (May 4, local time), with Khaleda Zia, her family members, and senior BNP leaders on board.
Initially, the flight services unit had finalized the names of Chief Purser Nishi, Flight Pursers Kosmic and Bipan, and Junior Purser Rifaz on Friday afternoon.
However, based on intelligence input suggesting potential political bias and risks to the VIP passenger’s security, Kosmic and Bipan were removed later that night.
Biman’s flight services division confirmed the change and stated that Flight Purser Duke and Flight Stewardess Anhara Marzan have been assigned as replacements.
Sources alleged that Kosmic previously worked closely on flights operated for Sheikh Rehana, sister of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and reportedly benefited from political favoritism despite receiving 18 show-cause notices during her career.
Kamrul Islam Bipan is accused of active involvement in the then ruling party activities, including organizing events on August 15, Sheikh Kamal’s birthday, and Sheikh Russel Day aboard flights.

বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন ও সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী খালেদা জিয়াকে বহনকারী বিমানের একটি ফ্লাইট থেকে নিরাপত্তাজনিত কারণে শেষ মুহূর্তে দুই কেবিন ক্রুকে সরিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে। তারা হলেন আল কুবরুন নাহার কসমিক ও মো. কামরুল ইসলাম বিপোন।
বাংলাদেশ সময় আগামী সোমবার (৫ মে) লন্ডনের হিথ্রো বিমানবন্দর থেকে ঢাকার উদ্দেশ্যে যাত্রা করবে বিমান বাংলাদেশ এয়ারলাইন্সের বিজি-২০২ ফ্লাইটটি। এতে খালেদা জিয়া, তার পরিবারের সদস্য ও বিএনপির শীর্ষ নেতারা থাকবেন।
শুক্রবার (২ মে) দুপুরে বিমান বাংলাদেশ এয়ারলাইন্সের ফ্লাইট সার্ভিস বিভাগ চিফ পার্সার নিশি, ফ্লাইট পার্সার কসমিক ও বিপোন এবং জুনিয়র পার্সার রিফাজের নাম চূড়ান্ত করেছিল। তবে গোয়েন্দা সূত্রে পাওয়া তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে ওই রাতে কসমিক ও বিপোনকে সরিয়ে দেওয়া হয়। তাদের স্থলে নতুনভাবে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হয়েছে ফ্লাইট পার্সার ডিউক ও ফ্লাইট স্টুয়ার্ডেস আনহারা মারজানকে।
বিমান সূত্র জানায়, আল কুবরুন নাহার কসমিক নিয়মিতভাবে শেখ রেহানার ফ্লাইট পরিচালনা করতেন এবং ক্ষমতাসীন আওয়ামী লীগের ঘনিষ্ঠ বলেও গোয়েন্দা তথ্যে উঠে এসেছে। তিনি চাকরিজীবনে ১৮ বার কারণ দর্শানোর নোটিশ পেয়েছেন এবং একাধিকবার গ্রাউন্ডেড হয়েছেন।
অন্যদিকে, জুনিয়র পার্সার কামরুল ইসলাম বিপোনের বিরুদ্ধে সরকারি দলের বিভিন্ন কর্মসূচিতে সক্রিয়ভাবে অংশগ্রহণের অভিযোগ রয়েছে। তিনি ধানমন্ডি ৩২ নম্বরে ১৫ আগস্ট শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন, শেখ কামালের জন্মদিন উপলক্ষে প্রীতি ফুটবল ম্যাচ আয়োজন এবং বিমানে শেখ রাসেল দিবস পালনের অন্যতম উদ্যোক্তা বলেও জানা গেছে।
