Three members of the Bangladesh Air Force were killed and four others injured after a pickup van carrying them fell from a flyover at the under-construction third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The accident occurred at around 10:20pm on Monday (August 31) in the third terminal area.

How the Accident Happened

According to sources, the Air Force personnel were on duty at the third terminal when the pickup van they were travelling in suddenly lost control and plunged from the flyover on the terminal's second floor.

Three personnel died at the scene. The deceased were identified as Warrant Officer Mahmud, Corporal Pias and LAC Zubaidul.

Four others were injured in the accident. Corporal Sifat (Abu Sayed), Corporal Mahbub and LAC Ahad sustained serious injuries, while Senior Officer Abul Khair suffered minor injuries.

Injured Taken to CMH

Rescue operations began immediately after the accident. The injured and deceased were recovered from the site, and the injured personnel were taken to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment.

The immediate cause of the accident was not known. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident to determine why the pickup lost control and fell from the flyover
