
Prominent businessman and former adviser to the caretaker government, Syed Manzur Elahi, passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un).
He died on Wednesday (March 12) at 9:31 AM local time (7:30 AM Bangladesh time) while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore.
His son, Syed Nasim Manzur, confirmed his father's death to the media over the phone from Singapore.
In addition to serving as the chairman of Apex Group, he also held the positions of founder chairman of Mutual Trust Bank and Grey Advertising Bangladesh.
Syed Manzur Elahi served as an adviser to the caretaker government in 1996 and 2001. In 1996, he was the adviser for the Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Shipping, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.
Born on February 26, 1942, in Kolkata, Manzur Elahi earned his bachelor's degree from St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata. Later, he completed his Master's degree in Economics from Dhaka University.
