NSU Architecture Department Hosts “Meet the Parents” to Strengthen Community Ties
Bangladesh: The Department of Architecture at North South University (NSU) organized a socially engaging event titled “Meet the Parents” at AUDI 801 of the campus on October 20.
The session aimed to strengthen collaboration and understanding among faculty, students, and their families.
The program was chaired by Associate Professor Shahriar Iqbal Raj, Chair of the Department, and attended by Lecturer and Studio Instructor Ar. AKM Saleh Ahmed Anik. Parents of newly admitted students joined an open dialogue with faculty members.
In his welcome speech, Assoc. Prof. Raj described architectural education at NSU as “a journey of the mind and soul,” noting that architecture is both demanding and transformative.
He emphasized professionalism, communication, and resilience as key traits for future architects, adding that “failure is the motivation for the next step.”
He also discussed the growing demand for skilled architects in Bangladesh, especially outside major cities, and highlighted NSU’s holistic learning approach that includes over 22 student clubs and a politics-free campus environment.
Parents appreciated the initiative, suggesting longer class hours and improved transportation for students. One parent remarked, “I’m honored that my son is studying at NSU,” while others thanked the department for fostering inclusivity and openness. Students echoed similar sentiments, expressing gratitude for academic and extracurricular support.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the Department Chair, reaffirming NSU’s commitment to a transparent, student-centered learning culture. “Meet the Parents” ended on a hopeful note, celebrating shared values of creativity, integrity, and collaboration.
