ASM Humayun Kabir, Director General (DG) of the National Identity Registration Division (NID), has stated that the Election Commission will not allow third-party verification institutions to access the full information of citizens from the NID server.
It has been reported that 182 institutions, which are contracted with the Election Commission, verify the national identity card information. Recently, allegations of data leakage have been raised against some of these institutions, and an investigation is ongoing with five of them.
On Monday (February 17), the Director General of NID shared this information with the media.
