Military Officers' Magistracy Powers Extended for Another 60 Days

The government has extended the special executive magistrate powers of commissioned officers in the Bangladesh Armed Forces, including army captains and above ranks (as well as officers on deputation in the Coast Guard and Border Guard Bangladesh), for another two months.
This information was revealed in a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday, March 13.
The interim government first granted military officers magistracy powers on September 17 last year to help control the country's law and order situation. Shortly after, on September 30, this power was extended to officers in the Navy and Air Force as well.
Then, in a notification issued on November 15, these powers were extended for an additional 60 days. The same powers were granted to military officers working on deputation in the Coast Guard and Border Guard Bangladesh as well.
