Excitement is sweeping across Kolkata as football icon Lionel Messi prepares to arrive in the city. The Argentine star is scheduled to land late Friday night, 12 December, and will check into a designated hotel upon arrival.
Messi is slated to appear at the “GOAT (Greatest of All Time) Concert” at Salt Lake Stadium onDecember 13. A 70-foot statue of the superstar was initially planned to be unveiled at Lake Town on the same day, with Messi attending the ceremony in person. However, due to heightened security concerns, organisers have revised the arrangement. Event coordinator Shatadru Dutta confirmed that Messi will now inaugurate the statue virtually from his hotel.
This very location had once welcomed another football legend—Diego Maradona—who personally unveiled his own statue at Lake Town several years ago.

ফুটবল সুপারস্টার লিওনেল মেসির ভারত সফরকে সামনে রেখে কলকাতা জুড়ে নেমেছে উৎসবের আমেজ। আগামী শুক্রবার (১২ ডিসেম্বর) গভীর রাতে তিনি কলকাতায় পৌঁছে নির্ধারিত হোটেলে উঠবেন বলে আয়োজকরা জানিয়েছেন।
১৩ ডিসেম্বর সল্টলেক স্টেডিয়ামে অনুষ্ঠিত ‘গোট কনসার্টে’ (গ্রেটেস্ট অব অল টাইম) অংশ নেবেন মেসি। একই দিনে লেক টাউনের মোড়ের কাছে তার ৭০ ফুট উচ্চতার ভাস্কর্য উদ্বোধনের পরিকল্পনা ছিল, যেখানে মেসির উপস্থিত থাকার কথা ছিল। তবে সাম্প্রতিক নিরাপত্তা উদ্বেগের কারণে আয়োজকেরা অনুষ্ঠানের ধরন পরিবর্তন করেছেন। ভারতের সফরের উদ্যোক্তা শতদ্রু দত্ত জানিয়েছেন, মেসি হোটেল থেকেই ভার্চ্যুয়াল মাধ্যমে মূর্তিটির উদ্বোধন করবেন।
লেক টাউন মোড়টি অতীতেও ফুটবল কিংবদন্তিদের স্বাগত জানিয়েছে—এমনকি দিয়েগো ম্যারাডোনাও একই স্থানে এসে নিজের মূর্তির উন্মোচন করেছিলেন।
