
The interim government is making preparations to hold national elections by December this year, according to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Speaking to the media on Monday (February 10) after a meeting with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus at his residence Jamuna, Mirza Fakhrul stated, “The Chief Adviser and his team have assured us that they are working swiftly to arrange the elections. He also mentioned that the government is working towards holding the elections within December.”
He further emphasized that the BNP expects a clear election roadmap, reflecting the aspirations of the people, and hopes that the election process will be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Earlier in the evening, a three-member BNP delegation led by Mirza Fakhrul entered Jamuna at 6:00 PM for the meeting.
The delegation included BNP Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed and Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. The meeting began at 6:20 PM and lasted until 7:35 PM.
Additionally, on Sunday (February 9), a separate BNP delegation, led by Nazrul Islam Khan, met the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) at the Election Commission office in Agargaon to discuss the election roadmap.
This delegation included BNP Standing Committee members Selima Rahman and Salahuddin Ahmed.
