Daylong heavy rainfall on Thursday caused waterlogging in many parts of Dhaka, severely disrupting daily life for residents.
The downpour, caused by a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal, has brought stormy weather across the country. While coastal areas remain submerged, the capital is also witnessing severe urban flooding.
Key areas including Mirpur, Kalyanpur, Shyamoli, Badda, Rampura, Banani-Kakoli, Mohakhali, Uttara, Bashundhara, Tejgaon, Malibagh, Khilgaon, and several parts of Old Dhaka have been severely affected. Roads and residential areas were inundated, leading to long traffic jams and forcing commuters to wade through water.
In response to the situation, the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has set up a control room to coordinate rapid and effective measures to tackle the waterlogging in its jurisdiction. City dwellers are encouraged to report any incidents of waterlogging by calling the DNCC hotline number 16106 or the control room mobile number 01733982486.
